Culture With Me.

I’m a self-proclaimed geek and child of the 80s. I love pop culture, games (of all kinds),
puzzles, toys, music, and movies – with a heavy lean towards the nerdy side.

My story of geekiness

I grew up in the 80s, raised by my mom who had my brother and I while she was only a teenager. Since my mom was a kid raising kids, we had a lot of fun. My mom loved games, scary movies, comedy, and rock and roll. And there was no filter. I was watching Night of the Living Dead when I was five years old. We watched comedy specials from Richard Pryor and Andrew Dice Clay. We listened to Guns & Roses and AC/DC on vinyl (and a childhood favorite of ours was Chuck Berry’s “My Ding a Ling” on a 7″ 45!). My mom would buy me and my brother a comic book once a month at the grocery store. And we played every card and board game around – the traditional stuff like Uno, Life, Monopoly, and Mouse Trap.

That was my foundation.

As I grew older, my interests in geek culture grew with me. I’m a huge gamer and still have every system I’ve ever owned since the Atari 2600. I love toys like Funkos and action figures. I’m a big wood and metal puzzle hobbyist. I still collect comic books and go to Comic Con (now the Fan Expo in Denver) every year. I’m a general pop-culture fanatic. And now I have a child of my own, which allows me to be a child all over again!
